Today; the 11th of May 2023 is remembered as the putative birthday of Jiddu Krishnamurti, born in 1895. Charles Webster Leadbetter, born in Stockport in 1854, and member of the Theosophical Society, then later; a bishop in the Liberal Catholic Church, identified J Krishnamurti as a future world teacher, claiming that he saw an aura around the boy, and along with Annie Beasant, took on a guardianship of the child; arranging the teaching and mentoring of the youngster and man, for the coming time that Charles Webster Leadbetter claimed through his clairvoyance was to be when the child would fulfill his destiny. In part three of the poem A Scapeshifter (Garden Party) mention is made of plumbum bashing bishop; which is about the man who was the subject of a book called The Elder Brother by Gregory Tillet. The window pocket square is the aperture formed in the concrete of Stockport’s Mersey Square, which opens onto the river shortly after the confluence of the Tame and the Goyt. After much preparation had been lavished upon the boy, and man, he rejected the course that had been mapped out for him by the Theosophical Society, and dissolved the order set up to serve that purpose. Just before the publication of T S Elliot’s The Wasteland in 1922, the travels of Jiddu Krishnamurti and his younger brother Nitjya, found them in the Ojai valley California, where it is said that J Krishnamurti went through a life changing experience, by way of a spiritual awakening, physical reconditioning, and psychological transformation. The founders of the Theosophical Society were Helena Blavatsky and Henry Steel Olcott, Madame Blavatsky is mentioned in the T S Elliot poem The Cooking Egg. There were controversies which followed Charles Webster Leadbetter, and there were calls during his tenure for a return to the original ideas and vision of the societies founders. After Jiddu Krishnamurti broke away from the Theosophical Society, he became a speaker at events, and appeared on film and audio recordings; with the theoretical physicist David Bohm; author of Wholeness and the Implicate Order, and a man who took it upon himself to articulate what Jiddu Krishnamurti needed to say. David Bohm died in 1992. An audio interview can be heard from 1971 in Malibu between Jacob Needleman and J Krishnamurti, which should be contrasted with the Jacob Needleman Time and the Soul interview 2019, Jacob Needleman died the month after the video for the poem A Scapeshifter was uploaded to you tube. Rupert Sheldrake, who celebrated his 80th birthday on the 28th June 2022 can also be found on you tube, speaking with J Krishnamurti, and his London birthday celebration in July 2022 figures in part five of A Scapeshifter. Jiddu Krishnamurti, and his name sake, can be found on you tube questioning G I Gurdjieff (both of them doing this after his death). Jiddu Krishnamurti was involved poetically in a work called The Search, and Mr Gurdjieff was involved with the seekers of truth who stated; “don’t believe anything, until you have verified it for your self.”
